If your machine is more than 5 years old and needs a motherboard replacement, the repair cost can approach the price of a new laptop. Usually yes. A laptop that won't power on is most often a dead battery, failed DC jack, power button circuit fault, or a board-level component failure. We test each systematically. Data is preserved through the repair.
On Windows, run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt — it shows your battery's design capacity vs current capacity. Below 80% and you'll notice a significant difference. On Mac, hold Option and click the battery icon — it shows cycle count and condition.
